My Book Boyfriend (1): Heathcliff

This meme is brought to you by The Unread Reader.

Bard Academy series by Cara Lockwood

Steven Strait as Heathcliff:
  •  He's tall. I have an obsession with tall guys.Which makes the fact that I am so short an advantage.
  • He is the original bad boy. 'Nuff said there.
  • Looks older than he is. While that is not really a plus I thought I was an important fact.
  • "He's got dark, spiky hair, jet-black eyes, and the beginnings of serious stubble." (pg 26) I am usually not a fan of facial hair but I can work with it on him. That and I love dark haired guys.
  • He has an accent. "Scottish/English/Irish brogue." (pg 27) Do I really need to say anything?
  • He is the strong buy silent type.
  • He is a good kisser. Lucky Miranda.

Wuthering High (Pg 100-101)

That's when I look up and see Heathcliff.

He's sitting by himself in the corner, staring at the hot dog and examines it, and then sniffs at it. It looks like he can't decide whether or not it's edible. I know how he feels.

"That was some trick you pulled this morning," I say, as I put my tray down in front of him. Instantly, he stands up and gives me a little bow. Is this some kind of British chivalry? I don't know.

"Is is okay if I sit here?" I ask, still not sure what he's doing standing up.

He nods at me, but says nothing. I sit, and then he sits.

"Did you get in trouble?" I ask him. He looks up at me, reluctantly almost, and shrugs. "I should probably thank you, you know. You saved me a lot of dish washing."

"Washing dishes is beneath you," he says. I wonder for a moment if he's being sarcastic, but I see that he's serious. He means it. He thinks I shouldn't was dishes—ever. That's some serious chivalry.

The Scarlet Letterman (Pg 183-185)

That's when there's a new sound at my door that has nothing to do with music. It's a loud thump, followed by a thud. When I rush to the hall, I see the Guardian who's normally standing there crumpled in a heap at my feet.

Above him is Heathcliff, fists clenched at his sides in a fighting stance.

Before I even think twice about it, I throw my arms around his neck and hug him. It's like hugging a wall, he's that broad and tall.

"You've come to save me!" I say, stating the obvious.

"Duh," Hana says, stepping out from behind Heathcliff. Samir is with her, too.

"So you and Heathcliff really are friends now."

"Not exactly friends, but working on it," Hana says.

"Come on, we don't have much time," Samir says. "Everyone is at the dance. Now's our chance."

. . .skipped a lot. . .

"Wow—nice! Samir says when we emerge about ten minutes later. I'm wearing my only formal dress—a peach-colored chiffon halter dress—with my hair thrown up in a messy bun, and enough smoky eye shadow so that even my own mother might not recognize me. But then again, that's the point. I'm supposed to be in disguise. Besides, I'm showing off enough leg so most people probably won'd be looking at my face. In face, Heathcliff is staring at a spot just above my knees. When he catches me looking at him, he flushes, ever so slightly. I guess that means he approves.

The first three books were published by MTV and I think that the last one was either self-published or by someone else. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time in order to buy the first book. Thank you for stopping by! Come back soon!

    @Missie
Yay for the short people. The only person I know who does not love a good accent is my middle sister but I think she has something wrong with her. Thank you for stopping by! Come back soon!

While Steven Strait is not exactly how I see Heathcliff he is the closest that I could find. Either way what I see in my head and what you see on the page are both very adorable. And I am not just talking about his looks. Thank you for stopping by! Come back soon!

    @Elisa
It's funny that you should think that because the book is based on the premise of literary characters being read out of books. So while technically I am talking about the Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights at the same time I am not. A creative license was most certainly used during the writing of this book. Sadly I could not get into Wuthering Heights. Thank you for stopping by! Come back soon!

Thanks! It is perfectly alright if you have not heard of the series. Spreading the word out to people deprived of the Bard Academy series is what I am here for. As well as a couple of other equally unknown books but mostly the Bard Academy. *giggle**giggle*

Me and my sister loved Steven Strait in Sky High. I should know she made me see the movie in theaters two times and she also went a few times without me. I always feel so sorry for Layla at the end having to downgrade to Will after Warren. (Um...I hope you have seen the movie or else I am rambling like a lunatic.) Thank you for stopping by! Come back soon!

(Ooops, I forgot to say that to Jennifer Messerschmidt.)

  10. *Gasp* Stevennnn...! Hot. Swoon. Sigh. 'Nuff said.

Haha. Okay. I haven't read this series, but Steven sure fits Heathcliff's profile.

Some might call me biased, but between the two of us, best BB of the week!^_~

I know how you feel. I can stare at Steven for hours.

Thank you. While I have not seen every movie he has made I really liked him as Warren Peace in Sky High.

You are as sweet as a plate of cupcakes! As my first BB ever that really makes me feel happy that you feel so. *happy dance**hug*

Thank you for stopping by! Come back soon!

  12. I can also stare at Steven for hours! Haha. I also loved his Warren character in Sky High. And when I saw the Covenant, which is a pretty good movie and one that you should totally check out, I fell in love with him even more! And if I were to feature him on my next BB, he'd be my Jacob Black. Too bad he's taken in real life! Not that I'll have any chance anyway. Well, no worries. I still have a possible candidate: http://rockeemusikreads.blogspot.com/2012/01/my-book-boyfriend-3.html

And glad I could make your first BB memorable. ^_~

I have seen the whole movie The Covenant but never in one sitting. It's weird but I saw the end first and then the beginning and then the middle. I liked him there but I should really think about watching the movie from start to finish one day. I have only ever read the first book of the Twilight series but I think that could work. Shame. And the girlfriend is pretty, too. Ohhh, a link! I like those things. Maybe a bit too much.
